Tokyo, July 12, 2012 <\/strong>\u2013 Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCE) today announced that it will release a system software update for \u201cnasne\u2122,\u201d a new networked recorder and media storage device, on July 19, 2012, concurrently with the launch of nasne*1<\/sup>. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

By installing system software update ver. 1.50, users will be able to use \u201cnasne\u201d as a media server, in addition to as a networked recorder. This will allow users to share and enjoy live TV broadcasts received through \u201cnasne,\u201d recorded TV programs stored in \u201cnasne\u201d *2<\/sup>, as well as their private content including videos, pictures, and music*3<\/sup>, created in various formats, across a variety of DLNA compatible devices connected to their home network. This system software update also adds other convenient functions to \u201cnasne\u201d including notifying users about the latest system software update on the \u201cnasne\u201d icons displayed across DLNA compatible devices*4<\/sup>, and allowing users to manage devices accessing \u201cnasne\u201d. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In addition, SCE will proactively collaborate with DLNA client software developers to enhance compatibility between their software and \u201cnasne\u201d, so that users can enjoy even more content on their devices through the media server features of \u201cnasne\u201d. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Furthermore, this system software update will expand the networked recorder features*5<\/sup> of \u201cnasne,\u201d which can be used in combination with torne\u2122, a dedicated application for PlayStation\u00ae3, VAIO TV with nasne\u2122, a dedicated application for VAIO PC, and more. In order to enable even more users to instantly enjoy digital terrestrial and satellite broadcast, SCE is collaborating with SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation and WOWOW INC., and adding menu bars on \u201cnasne\u2122 HOME\u201d, where users configure \u201cnasne\u201d settings, so they can easily subscribe to SKY PerfecTV\uff01e2 and WOWOW channels*6<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

This system update will offer more than 10 functional enhancements, including the above. *7<\/sup><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
