PlayStation® Portable Gains Support from 59 Third Party Developers and Publishers with 59 Game Software Titles in Japan
Tokyo, July 12, 2004 – Sony Computer Entertainment Japan (SCEJ), a division of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. responsible for business operations in Japan, announced the latest list of third party developers and publishers as well as the newest game software title lineups in Japan for the handheld video game system PlayStation® Portable at PlayStation Meeting 2004 held in New Takanawa Prince Hotel today.
Since the company’s announcement at Electronic Entertainment Exposition (E3) held this May in Los Angeles, SCEJ has been receiving continuous interest from the third party developers and publishers in Japan in supporting PSP. As of July 2004, a total of 59 third party developers and publishers, 25 new companies in addition to the already announced 34, have expressed their support. In the software front, a total of 59 game titles, 16 titles more compared to the 43 in May, are currently under development to offer more fun on PlayStation Portable.
SCEJ will aggressively promote PSP and UMD as the new handheld entertainment platform for the coming era.
