Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Launches New PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) Accessories
High-capacity Battery Pack and 1GB Memory Stick PRO Duo to Become Available
Tokyo, October 4, 2005 – Sony Computer Entertainment Japan (SCEJ), a division of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) responsible for business operations in Japan, announced today that it would introduce a new Battery Pack and Memory Stick PRO Duo™ (1GB) as additional accessories for PSP® (PlayStation®Portable), on Thursday, October 27th, 2005.
While retaining the same size as the current Battery Pack (PSP-110), the new Battery Pack (PSP-280) provides up to 20% increased capacity, supporting longer play time. Also, Memory Stick PRO Duo (1GB) will be sold as a new data saving device in addition to
the existing Memory Stick Duo™ (32MB). With 1GB of storage capacity offered at an attractive price, Memory Stick PRO Duo can be used to save game data for PSP, and is particularly useful to store large movie and music data, which was limited with 32MB
Memory Stick Duo.
PSP is gaining stronger support from broad range of users, with cumulative shipments in Japan alone exceeding 2 million units as of today. With the introduction of these new accessories, SCEJ aims to expand the world of entertainment with game, music and
movies in the mobile entertainment arena.
